MOUNTAIN VETERAN MINISTRIES

Helping People Find Their Way to Jesus— and Find Their Way Back

A digital discipleship ministry for anyone who wants to explore Jesus, understand the Christian faith, wrestle honestly with difficult questions, or grow deeper in following Christ.

Why “Mountain Veteran”?

“Mountain Veteran” describes the person behind the ministry— not the people the ministry is intended to reach.

The name grew out of one veteran’s journey through life, faith, technology, the mountains of Oregon, and eventually into ministry. But Mountain Veteran Ministries was never created only for veterans.

This is a place for anyone who is searching, questioning, learning, returning to faith, or simply trying to understand what it means to follow Jesus in the real world.

You don’t have to be a veteran to belong here. You just have to be willing to explore the questions that matter.

There Are a Lot of People Standing Outside the Church

Some have never believed.

Some believe, but have questions they don’t feel comfortable asking.

Some were disappointed by Christians or hurt by a church.

Some quietly walked away years ago.

And others have followed Jesus for decades but still want to understand their faith more deeply.

Mountain Veteran Ministries exists for all of them.

Faith Doesn’t Require Pretending the Questions Don’t Exist

Why does God allow suffering? Can the Bible really be trusted? Does God actually exist? Why did Jesus have to die? What happens when doubt becomes stronger than certainty?

Christianity has always faced difficult questions. We believe those questions deserve more than slogans, arguments, or quick answers.

Mountain Veteran Ministries tries to take both the question and the person asking it seriously.

It All Comes Back to Jesus

Christianity can become complicated very quickly— denominations, doctrines, traditions, politics, personalities, disagreements, and centuries of theological debate.

But Christianity begins somewhere much simpler.

Jesus Christ.

Who is He? Why did He come? Why did He die? Did He really rise from the dead? What did He mean when He said, “Follow me”?

And what difference does any of that make for us today?

We approach Scripture, theology, apologetics, discipleship, and Christian living with the conviction that ultimately it all comes back to Jesus and the Gospel.

A Little About the Mountain Veteran

My own road to this ministry wasn’t exactly a straight one.

I’m a Vietnam veteran, a lifelong technology guy, and someone who came to understand the grace of Jesus Christ later in life.

I spent much of my working life watching technology move from mainframes to personal computers, the Internet, mobile devices, cloud computing, and now artificial intelligence.

Somewhere along the way, something became increasingly clear: the same technology that has transformed nearly every other part of our lives can also help carry the timeless message of Jesus Christ far beyond the walls of a church building.

Mountain Veteran Ministries grew from that conviction.

“I don’t have every answer. But I’ve lived long enough to know which questions matter—and I’ve become convinced that the best place to begin looking for the answers is Jesus Christ.”

Rooted in a Local Church

Mountain Veteran Ministries is the digital discipleship and biblical learning ministry of Wy’East Community Church in Oregon’s Hood River Valley.

Although much of what happens here takes place online, we don’t believe Christianity was intended to be lived entirely alone.

Digital ministry can open a door, answer questions, teach Scripture, and help someone begin following Jesus. But the Christian life also calls us into relationships, worship, fellowship, service, and community.
