Following Jesus in Everyday Life · Lesson 7 of 10
Generosity and Stewardship
The Big Idea
Generosity grows from trust in God rather than attachment to possessions.
Before You Read
Read 2 Corinthians 9:6–11; Matthew 6:19–24 carefully. Ask the Lord to help you understand and respond to His Word.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 9:6–11; Matthew 6:19–24 — Open this passage in your preferred Bible translation. Read it once for the main message and again for important details.
What Do You Notice?
Paul speaks of cheerful giving; Jesus warns against storing up treasure as life’s ultimate security.
Understanding the Passage
God gives resources to be used wisely and shared freely. Scripture does not command reckless giving or ignore real obligations. Instead, it invites us to see possessions as gifts entrusted to us, not masters over us. Giving can include money, time, hospitality, attention, and skill. Christian generosity reflects the grace we have received and places trust in the Giver above the gifts.
Key Truth
Generosity grows from trust in God rather than attachment to possessions.
