God’s Grace, Not Our Merit

Scripture
Ephesians 2:1–10 — Open this passage in your preferred Bible translation. Read it once for the main message and again for important details.
What Do You Notice?
Observe the movement from death in sin to life with Christ and good works prepared by God.
Understanding the Passage
Paul emphasizes that God makes spiritually dead people alive because of His mercy and love. We are saved by grace through faith, not as a reward for impressive achievements. Good works matter, but they are the fruit of salvation rather than its price. This protects us from boasting when we succeed and despair when we fail. We belong to Christ because God has acted in mercy.
Key Truth
Salvation is God’s gracious gift received through faith.
