Understanding Salvation · Lesson 5 of 8

Justified by Faith

The Big Idea

Through Christ believers have peace with God.

Before You Read

Read Romans 5:1–11 carefully. Ask the Lord to help you understand and respond to His Word.

Scripture

Romans 5:1–11 — Open this passage in your preferred Bible translation. Read it once for the main message and again for important details.

What Do You Notice?

Paul describes justification, peace, hope, suffering, and the love shown in Christ’s death.

Understanding the Passage

To be justified is to be declared righteous before God because of Christ, received through faith. The ground of our peace is not a flawless week or a strong religious feeling. Paul points instead to Christ dying for us while we were still sinners. This frees us to admit our weakness and rest in God’s promise. Hope becomes sturdy because it is anchored in Christ’s saving work.

Key Truth
